Newton was unable to break out of their slump on Friday, as the squad suffered their eighth consecutive loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched against the Pollok Central Bulldogs, losing 83-36. The Eagles were unable to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs in their previous meeting in February.
Newton’s defeat decreased their record to 0-2. Pollok Central’s third consecutive victory improved their season record to 12-8.
Both squads will have to travel for their future games. Newton will finish 2024 with an away game against Hemphill at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Pollok Central will have some time to enjoy their victory because their next game isn’t until December 31st at 2:15 p.m., when they face Jefferson.
Pollok Central has been getting the ball to fall more recently, and their point totals have climbed in each of their last three games.
