Commanders rule out Lattimore, four others for Falcons game.

ASHBURN, VA — Marshon Lattimore will miss Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons after reinjuring his left hamstring the previous weekend.

Washington has ruled out Lattimore and four other players for Sunday night’s pivotal game against the Falcons (8-7). The Commanders (10-5) can secure a playoff spot with a win or if the Carolina Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier in the day.

Other starters who have been ruled out include right tackle Andrew Wylie (groin) and receiver Dyami Brown (hamstring). Linebacker Jordan Magee (hamstring) and safety Tyler Owens (ankle) will also not play.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn is optimistic that defensive tackle Jon Allen will be activated from injured reserve in time for Sunday’s game.

Allen tore his left pectoral muscle during a Week 6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was placed on injured reserve on October 16. At the time, he was expected to miss the remainder of the season.

“He had a really good week,” Quinn said.

Lattimore missed his first four games with Washington after being traded from the New Orleans Saints on November 5 due to a left hamstring injury. Lattimore returned to face the Saints on December 15, and they did not target him once.

However, in a win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Lattimore injured his hamstring in the fourth quarter and was sidelined for the rest of the game. It is unclear how much time Lattimore will miss. The Commanders conclude the regular season in Dallas.

Without him, Washington’s options are veterans Mike Davis and Benjamin St-Juste against rookie Mike Sainristil. St-Juste replaced Lattimore against the Eagles and was the starter on that side before Lattimore returned, but the team began to rotate in Davis.

Noah Igbinoghene will continue to play slot cornerback.

Cornelius Lucas, a veteran swing tackle, is likely to replace Wylie. Lucas has made six starts this season, including one at right tackle. Brown’s absence is disappointing because the team recently lost another wideout, Noah Brown, to a kidney injury. Two weeks ago, they claimed veteran K.J. Osborn off waivers.
