Garrett Wilson should get a squeaky wheel game in Week 17 at Buffalo. He’s disappointed with his lack of output over the last two games, and it’d be ideal if Aaron Rodgers fed him against the Bills.
Wilson had 13 targets for nine catches, 110 yards, and a touchdown during his last two games versus Jacksonville and the Rams. After the loss to the Rams, Wilson stated that he would “love to be involved, love to make an impact on the game,” but that he has no control over whether “people see it differently.”
Wilson currently ranks fourth in the NFL in targets with 141, trailing only Malik Nabers (154), CeeDee Lamb (152) and Ja’Marr Chase. Wilson also ranks ninth in receptions (90) and 12th in receiving yards (987).
Still, he wants more attention from Rodgers, and interim coach Jeff Ulbrich provided the remark we needed to see heading into Week 17.
“At the end of the day, we have to find ways to get Garrett the ball more often,” Ulbrich said Monday. “He’s one of our team’s finest players, if not one of the greatest in the league, particularly at his position.
The sequence took (Rodgers) off Garrett for a variety of reasons, all related to coverage. But, at the same time, we need to find methods to get him the ball.”
I’m concerned about Rodgers as a Fantasy quarterback in this game against the Bills, but Wilson and Davante Adams remain must-start receivers. Adams has earned at least 17.6 PPR points in four consecutive games, with at least 11 targets in each and 48 total targets during that time.
Rodgers’ reliance on Adams is likely contributing to Wilson’s displeasure, considering he had 33 targets in the same time span. However, Wilson could be the center focus in Week 17.
And he’s had good results versus the Bills throughout his career. Wilson had eight catches for 107 yards and a touchdown on ten targets against Buffalo in Week 6 — without Adams — and has scored at least 13.8 PPR points in three of his five career games with the Bills.
Let’s hope this is the game where Wilson shines and the Jets feature him again. In Week 17, he has the potential to greatly reward fantasy managers.
