OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – Light fog persists in the area, accompanied by gloomy gray skies. More severe fog will develop overnight and into the holiday morning.

Christmas Day will be much like Tuesday, with cloudy skies and fog. This will cause temperatures to be far lower than forecast, with highs only reaching the low to mid 30s.

The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for most of the area, including the metro, until noon on Wednesday. If you’re traveling during the holidays, slow down and turn on your car’s low beam headlights.

Following the holiday, a system from the west coast will bring showers beginning Thursday and ending early Saturday morning.

Thursday will be cloudy, with fog and drizzle probable. The biggest chance of light showers will be Thursday night and Friday morning. Thankfully, with temperatures in the upper 30s at their coolest, we’ll keep it all rain.

The weekend looks dry and moderate, with highs around 50 degrees. A system that moves into the area on Monday brings showers during the day but may shift to snow by midnight.

As we approach 2025, the overall pattern appears to become cooler, with highs in the 30s.
