First Alert 6 Weather Day: Rain turning to snow Monday evening.

First Alert 6 Weather Day Rain turning to snow Monday evening.

OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) Monday is a FIRST ALERT 6 WEATHER DAY due to rain in the afternoon, which is expected to turn to snow around Monday evening. There may be an impact on the evening commute.

Currently, most areas will get less than 2 inches of accumulation, with the largest impacts expected north of I-80. If changeover occurs earlier in the evening, the accumulation potential increases, so stay tuned for the latest on timing and amounts.

Most computer models predict the biggest amounts north of I-80, but some accumulation is anticipated in the metro and south. I expect it to stop falling by midnight in most areas, so the commute on Tuesday morning will be free of falling snow.

There may be some lingering effects on the roadways beginning Tuesday, but I don’t anticipate any disruptions to New Year’s Eve activities at this time.
