North Platte, Nebraska – Residents of Custer, Lincoln, Hayes, and Frontier counties are being urged to prepare for ice conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect tonight at 9 p.m. and lasts until 9 a.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service in North Platte issued the caution due to the possibility of patchy freezing precipitation and freezing fog, which could cause slippery roadways and walkways.
These hazardous conditions may complicate travel, especially in the early morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service, freezing drizzle will have the greatest impact in areas prone to ice deposition, such as bridges and shaded highways. Motorists are encouraged to limit their speeds and travel cautiously.
