On Wednesday night, Omaha women’s basketball moved to Sapp Fieldhouse rather than Baxter Arena, but the change in venue did not slow the Mavericks.

In Omaha’s annual contest at Dodge Campus, the Mavericks easily defeated visiting Bellevue, 84-53. It wasn’t their regular single-digit win, but the Mavericks cruised to their eighth consecutive victory in style.

Omaha was led in scoring by senior transfer Ja Harvey, who has continued to be a pleasant surprise for the club. Harvey scored 18 points, with Cora Olsen and Grace Cave adding 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Morgann Gardner led the club with nine rebounds, while Cave added seven of her own. A three-pointer in the fourth quarter propelled Cave above 1,000 points in her career, making her the fourth player in Omaha’s Division I era.

The Mavericks’ 2024 schedule will conclude with a key momentum showdown at Oklahoma. With a win, Omaha would have eight consecutive victories going into the break. The Mavericks will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, on Sunday at 3 p.m.
