BENNINGTON, Nebraska (WOWT) – Douglas County Sheriff’s officers executed a search warrant Wednesday morning as they continue to investigate unusual automobile occurrences on a neighboring roadway.
There have been at least four reports of cars striking or missing big things left on Highway 36 at night, ranging from a coffee table to a chair and even a child’s bicycle. Some onlookers questioned whether the things had fallen from a truck since the landfill is nearby.
One car swerved to avoid what he believed was a flat-screen television at 132nd Street and Highway 36.
The accident might have been fatal: the automobile ended up plunging into a ravine. Fortunately, the pair was not wounded.
They informed First Alert 6 that it seemed like someone was waiting nearby, making them question whether it was the person who had placed the object in the road in the first place.
On Wednesday, First Alert 6 Investigates was there as Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at the Bennington home of a person of interest in the case. It is believed that they are seeking for proof that the things discovered in the road were placed there on purpose.
The individual of interest sat in the detective’s vehicle throughout the search. After almost two hours, he was permitted back inside the house.
No arrests were made, and deputies departed without issuing a statement.
The incidents have been especially startling since it is the time of year when drivers in the region are most vigilant of deer on the road. Nobody is anticipating to have to avoid furniture as well.
