Several Northeast Nebraska teams returned from the holiday break within the Omaha World-Herald Top Ten rankings when high school athletics resumes play today.

In Class C1, Columbus Scotus is ranked fifth, while Battle Creek is ranked eighth.

Crofton leads Class C2, followed by Humphrey-Lindsay (8th), Oakland-Craig (2nd), Elkhorn Valley (4th), and Homer (5th).

Cedar Catholic is in sixth place in Class D1, while Pender is still in first place.

After beginning the year unranked, O’Neill St. Mary’s emerges victorious in Class D2, with Wynot and Archangels Catholic finishing ninth and tenth, respectfully.

Summerland began the year at the top of the boys’ standings in Class C2, where he is still now. Elkhorn Valley comes in seventh, Cedar Catholic comes in eighth, Oakland-Craig comes in tenth, West Holt comes in sixth, Ponca comes in fifth, and Norfolk Catholic comes in third.

Class D1’s top local team, Howells-Dodge, is ranked fifth, while Bancroft-Rosalie is ranked seventh.

Lastly, Class D2 is where five local teams are rated, with Archangels Catholic, Wausa, and O’Neill St. Mary’s placing first through third, respectively. Elgin Public/Pope John is ranked eighth, whereas Wynot is ranked fifth.
