Lincoln, Nebraska (KOLN) With Nebraska football in New York and men’s basketball in Hawaii, there’s no shortage of Christmas spirit in the air.
To get in the holiday spirit, here is a Husker rendition of “Twas the Night Before Christmas:”
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all throughout Lincoln…
Not a Herbie Husker was stirring, not even Lil Red.
The stockings were strung with care at Memorial Stadium.
In the hopes that St. Nicholas will soon be there.
Husker supporters were tucked snugly in their beds.
While thoughts of Nebraska basketball defeating the Beavers danced through their brains.
Brice Williams nailing three-pointers and Juwan Gary with the layup
Had just nestled in for a long winter nap.
While in the Big Apple, there arose such clatter.
I jumped from my bed to check what was wrong.
When my inquisitive eyes should appear
But Matt Rhule and eight small reindeers
With a small old driver, so active and swift.
So I realized in a minute that it must be 1-5.
His coursers arrived faster than the eagles.
And he whistled, shouted, and addressed them by name.
“On Emmett, Jacory, Jaylen, and Jahmal.”
“On Ben, Gunner, Thomas, and John!”
To the top of the gridiron, to the top of the stadium
Dash away!
As I drew in my thoughts and turned around.
John Cook descended the chimney with a bound.
He was wearing his Nebraska button-up.
He hurled a bundle of volleyballs on his back.
He did not say anything and headed right to the huddle.
And filled all of the stockings with Harper Murray and Lexi Rodriguez signed merchandise.
And laying a finger on the side of his nose.
And with a nod up the chimney, he rose.
He rushed to his sleigh and blew a whistle to his team.
And they all flew to the Final Four.
But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight!
“Merry Christmas to all and to all…goodnight”
