OMAHA – A Bellevue man accused of leading police on a chase that ended in gunfire over the weekend made his first court appearance on Wednesday.
The Nebraska State Patrol reported that Timothy Sorensen led police on a chase early Saturday morning. At one point, he allegedly rammed patrol cars, a garage, and a retaining wall.
According to the NSP, he drove his vehicle toward troopers, and two of them returned fire.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
Court documents show that Sorensen admitted to stealing the Jeep involved in the incident, but the vehicle’s owner was unaware it was missing.
He was formally charged with theft by unlawful taking and assault of officers using a motor vehicle, with bonds set at $5,000 and $100,000, respectively.
He also waived the right to preliminary hearings.
