OMAHA – The man on trial for a shooting near an Omaha smoke shop in 2024 was found not guilty.
A jury found Traveion Green, 21, ‘not guilty’ of First Degree Assault and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, according to court documents released Thursday.
Green turned himself in on the night of the shooting, along with the weapon used in the incident.
The entire incident was captured on video. In the video, Green and the victim are seen exchanging words in the smoke shop’s doorway.
According to court documents, Green told police in an interview that he did not know the shooting victim, and that when he entered the store, he perceived their interaction as threatening.
He claimed the victim had a gun in his fanny pack and was attempting to remove it when Green opened fire in self-defense.
