The Eagles’ playoff run may have to begin without Jalen Hurts.
The star quarterback is still in the concussion protocol two weeks after suffering the injury in a loss to the Commanders, head coach Nick Sirianni announced Monday.
The Eagles face the Packers in the wild-card round on Sunday.
Backup quarterback Kenny Pickett is also dealing with a rib injury, which kept him out of Sunday’s season-ending victory.
Some speculated that the Eagles were simply being cautious with Hurts, given that the two season-ending games would have little impact on the team’s playoff prospects with the NFC East title already secured.
However, the fact that he is still in the concussion protocol raises questions about his availability for Philadelphia’s playoff opener.
Without Hurts and Pickett, third-string quarterback Tanner McKee threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns in a season-ending victory over the Giants.
But the Packers are not the Giants. However, Green Bay is dealing with its own injury issues.
Christian Watson, the team’s most dangerous receiver, sustained a torn ACL against the Bears on Sunday. Starting quarterback Jordan Love’s practice status remains uncertain after injuring his elbow and leaving the game in the first half in the loss to the Bears.
