Bond established for Omaha man accused of leading pursuit across state lines and hiding in stranger's basement

OMAHA, Nebraska – A court appearance revealed new information about a high-speed chase across state lines in the Omaha metro area last week.

Albert Fuller, 46, was charged in Douglas County on Monday with one count of operating a vehicle to avoid arrest. His bond amount was set at $500,000.

Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near the 42nd Street exit for a Cadillac sedan driven by Fuller that did not have license plates.

According to NSP, Fuller pulled over, but as the trooper approached, he sped off and fled into Iowa via I-80. The trooper began a pursuit, which was quickly taken over by Omaha Police’s Able-1 helicopter as it crossed state lines.

According to the police affidavit, Fuller traveled northbound on Interstate 29 before returning to Omaha via I-80 and exiting at 13th Street, where Able-1 observed him driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic.

According to authorities, the pursuit, which reached speeds of up to 90 mph at times, came to an end near South 5th and Cedar Street, where Fuller is accused of getting out of the car and entering a stranger’s home.

Troopers and officers established a perimeter and made contact with the homeowners, who stated that they did not know the suspect and allowed authorities to search their home.

Fuller was arrested after being discovered hiding in the basement.

Fuller appeared in court on Monday for a number of different incidents. He had an outstanding warrant for burglarizing a friend’s home in October when he was apprehended following Thursday’s pursuit. His bond was increased by $100,000.

Fuller is due in court again on March 7.
