OMAHA, Nebraska – Crews from the Omaha Fire Department fought a fire at an auto body shop for more than two hours.
Shortly before midnight Wednesday, OFD was dispatched to Bumper and Auto of Omaha near 13th and Center streets.
A working fire was declared upon arrival after crews noticed heavy smoke and flames coming from the shop’s windows and doors, according to a fire official.
Around 12:15 a.m., a second alarm rang. Firefighters fought the fire for approximately 40 minutes before removing crews from the interior and roof.
According to the fire official, a third alarm was called shortly after 12:30 a.m. when the fire began to spread through the roof. Crews were off the roof when it began to collapse.
According to a report issued Thursday, four alarms were requested and dispatched for the fire. The final alarm rang at 1 a.m.
Crews fought the fire for nearly two hours before reporting it under control shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday.
OFD has no injuries to report. They claim no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
Damage is estimated at $1,250,000.
According to the report, the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
