OMAHA –An inmate who recently entered Douglas County Corrections died early Saturday morning.
According to a statement released Saturday morning, Albert Thompson, 51, was found unresponsive in his cell around 12:30 a.m.
After locating Thompson, corrections officers initiated life-saving measures and dialed 911. Medics pronounced him dead shortly after.
Thompson was booked into Douglas County Corrections in late December 2024 for disorderly conduct and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, as well as an additional charge of assaulting an officer during the booking process.
Officials say they will not comment further until the grand jury investigation is completed, as required by Nebraska law.
