On Thursday morning, a garbage truck partially fell into a sinkhole after the driver ignored a roadblock.
The accident occurred on January 2nd, at approximately 8:30 a.m., near 16th and Farnam Streets in Omaha, Nebraska.
According to KETV 7, the garbage truck driver exited the vehicle to physically pull a barricade away from the alleyway before driving into the narrow location. The truck then slid partially into a 10- to 12-foot-deep pit with power and gas wires going through it.
It is unclear whether the barricade was preventing an existing sinkhole or if the vehicle caused one. According to Omaha City Engineers, the region had already been a source of worry for officials prior to the incident, and the city was examining sewer concerns in the area.
Police warn motorists to seek an alternate route.
