Kansas City, MO – A brief warmup in Kansas City today will give way to colder temperatures and possibly snow by Thursday evening. Residents should brace themselves for slippery roads and changing conditions as a cold front moves into the area.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will rise into the mid-30s today before dropping to the teens overnight.
A light dusting of snow is possible this evening in areas north of Interstate 70, including Kansas City, Chillicothe, and Moberly. Winds can gust up to 24 mph, reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions.
Thursday will see mostly sunny skies but colder temperatures, with a high near 24°F and overnight lows dropping to 9°F.
Winds will be steady, making it feel even colder. Drivers traveling Thursday morning or evening should exercise caution, as icy patches may remain on bridges and less-traveled roads.
Looking ahead, Friday will warm slightly, with highs reaching 37°F and mostly sunny skies. Saturday has the warmest temperatures this week, with highs near 40°F, but nighttime lows will remain in the low 20s. By Sunday, temperatures will drop again, with highs near 35°F and partly sunny skies.
The week’s fluctuating temperatures and light precipitation may cause minor travel disruptions. Residents should keep an eye on weather updates and plan ahead of time for their commutes.
