Omaha, Nebraska – Nebraska will experience a stretch of warmer weather this week, with temperatures reaching the 50s by Tuesday and Wednesday. The milder conditions provide a break from the recent cold, but wintry weather is expected to return by Friday, raising concerns about travel disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will bring sunny skies and highs near 51 degrees in Omaha, along with breezy southwest winds that may increase fire risks.
Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be sunny, with highs of 53 and 48 degrees, respectively. The warmup, however, may cause ice jam flooding as melting ice breaks up along area rivers.
The forecast changes from Thursday night to Friday, with a chance of rain and snow. Friday’s high of around 42 degrees will drop to freezing overnight, resulting in slick roads and hazardous driving conditions.
Residents are advised to closely monitor weather updates throughout the week and prepare for potential flooding and icy conditions. Travelers should stay alert on Friday and prepare for potential delays as the storm system moves through.
