Just as the weather in Arkansas appears to be warming up this week, another cold blast of arctic air is expected to arrive by the end of the weekend and into the first part of the week.
Arctic Air Headed to Arkansas – How Cold Will It Get?
This massive wave of frigid cold air could be colder than the one we had last weekend, when most of the state received 8-12 inches of snow. Southern Arkansas experienced power outages due to freezing rain and sleet that threatened the area.
The next wave of cold air could be the coldest of the season so far. Temperatures are expected to fall into the lower teens and 20s, with a wind chill factor making it feel like single digits in parts of northern and central Arkansas. Temperatures in the state’s south will drop into the low 20s, with highs of around 35 degrees on Monday and Tuesday. Unlike the previous storm, this one is expected to bring a few showers to the southern sections on Saturday, with colder air moving into the state late Saturday evening and Sunday.
