Residents of Omaha are taking part in a national movement

OMAHA, Nebraska – If you saw people walking up to 72nd Street from the Dodge Street Pedestrian Bridge near Memorial Park, this is what they were doing.

They are part of “The People’s March,” a rebranded version of the “Women’s March.”

It’s a national rally, with thousands of people protesting President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

This is one of many local marches in Omaha, with the largest turnout today in Washington, DC.

Notably, this year’s turnout is expected to be a fraction of 2017’s historic “Women’s March.”

That was one of the largest single-day demonstrations in American history.

This is why one person is currently participating in Omaha.

“We’re marching for women’s reproductive and healthcare rights. Equality in the workplace. There are so many rights. We all support one another, from LGBTQ issues to climate change.

There are just so many social issues. The main one is economic issues. Linda Jensen stated, “We have to get these oligarchs out of our lives and create an economy that works for everyone, not just the few rich.”

Others claim to be marching today in opposition to bills proposed by the Nebraska Legislature.
