San Angelo, Texas — A winter weather advisory is in effect for Central Texas from 6 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday. Snow and minor sleet accumulations of up to one inch are expected, affecting travel in several counties.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Angelo has issued an advisory for Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, and San Saba counties, as well as Schleicher and Sutton.
Brady, Junction, Eldorado, and Sonora are among the cities most affected. Slippery roads may occur as a result of hazardous conditions, particularly during Tuesday morning commute.
Drivers are encouraged to reduce their speeds and exercise extra caution while driving. Residents can stay up to date on road conditions by calling 511 or visiting DriveTexas.org for statewide updates.
This weather pattern follows an unseasonably cold front that sweeps through Texas, bringing the region its first measurable snow of the year. While accumulations are expected to be light, the combination of snow and freezing temperatures may result in icy patches on roads.
Check your vehicle’s tires, keep an emergency kit on hand, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak weather conditions. Residents are advised to monitor forecasts as conditions change.
