The Platte River walking bridge is closed due to debris buildup

LINCOLN – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission announced Monday that the Lied Platte River Bridge is closed until further notice.

The Lied Bridge, a converted rail-to-trail line, connects Lincoln and Omaha across the Platte River.

It is on the MoPac Trail, between South Bend and Platte River State Park.

The Parks Commission stated in a press release that the closure was caused by trees becoming entangled at the trail’s base as a result of previous rains and high water.

Officials say crews will be working to clear the debris until mid-February.
