On January 9, Mochi Ice Cream Company LLC recalled 1350 cases of Peach Mango Sorbet sold in Nebraska due to the undeclared presence of a common allergen.
According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, the recalled products, which were distributed nationwide, “may contain undeclared pasteurized cooked egg white,” which poses a “serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” to individuals allergic to egg and is not listed on the product label.
Consumers should avoid The Mochi Ice Cream Company’s Peach Mango Sorbet cases 337-24 and 341-24. The FDA revealed that the problem was caused by “a temporary breakdown in the company’s packaging processes.”
So far, two “minor” allergic reactions have been reported as a result of eating the mislabeled Peach Mango Sorbet.
Officials are urging customers who have already purchased a recalled case of The Mochi Ice Cream Company’s Peach Mango Sorbet to return it to the store for a full refund and to avoid consumption.
Concerned individuals with questions about the mislabeled products (which may contain egg whites) should contact the company at 1-844-696-6244.
