Omaha, Nebraska — A woman was arrested after a disturbance at the Douglas County Courthouse on Monday.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies encountered Melissa-Denae Smith, 36, in the second-floor rotunda.
DCSO claims she began cursing at the deputies, causing a disturbance. Smith was arrested after being told three times to leave. She has been charged with obstruction of a police officer.
The Sheriff’s Office claims they are legally obligated to protect and maintain order at the courthouse, and they have a zero-tolerance policy for disturbances. They also ask visitors to use common sense and decorum.
