OMAHA – A murder trial in the death of an Omaha woman, which was scheduled to begin in April 2020 in Douglas County, will not take place.
Jerry Johnson, aged 59, changed his plea earlier this month. He is now pleading guilty to second-degree murder, according to documents filed on January 9.
He was previously charged with first-degree murder in the death of Ebony King. The mother and small business owner were killed on April 15, 2020, near North 25th Street and Hartman Avenue.
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on February 26.
A second suspect in the case pleaded “no contest” to robbery, down from first-degree murder, and is scheduled to be sentenced on February 27.
Judge Peter C. Bataillon is presiding over the case.
