3 Hospitalized, 25 Displaced After Apartment Fire in Downtown Omaha

OMAHA, Nebraska – In downtown Omaha, a fire engulfed an apartment, leaving three people hospitalized and 25 displaced.

It occurred shortly after 3 a.m., near 25th and Douglas streets.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they discovered smoke and flames coming from the third floor, as well as people hanging out of the windows.

In an update Saturday afternoon, the Omaha Fire Department reported that the Red Cross and Salvation Army were on the scene to assist displaced tenants.

OFD informed First Alert 6 that three people were rushed to the hospital, two with serious injuries and one fighting for their lives.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. The apartment complex is estimated to have sustained $100,000 in damage.
