PLATTSMOUTH – The Cass County Commissioners have appointed a new representative for the county’s first district.
Cassgram reports that Terry Dasher of Plattsmouth was chosen this week to succeed longtime Commissioner Dale Sharp, who died about two months after being re-elected to represent District 1.
Dasher, an ironworker foreman, was chosen from among nine candidates. The selection committee, which included the county attorney, clerk, and treasurer, made their decision on Wednesday.
“Each of the Applicants possessed the qualities necessary for the position and could have done the job if selected,” wrote Cass County Attorney Chris Perrone in an email to Cassgram. “The committee’s selection of Dasher hopefully respects the will of the voters in District 1 who elected Dale and will allow the Board to continue the work of the people in Cass County effective immediately.”
Dasher was chosen from three finalists, which included Russ Kathol and Bill Brueggemann. According to Cassgram, the selection committee was aware that several of Sharp’s family members were present throughout the process.
