According to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) payment schedule, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will not be paid in March 2025. Some people have expressed concern in various online forums that they will be without money for the entire month.
However, this is due to a change in the payment schedule, as SSI benefits are paid on the first of every month. When the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment is moved to the last business day of the previous month. That is what happened in February, when the payment was advanced to January 31, and it will happen again in March.
Why are these adjustments made? The SSA Explanation
Before proceeding, keep in mind that some SSI beneficiaries receive their payments on a different date than the first of the month: these are beneficiaries who receive SSI in addition to Social Security. This group’s payment date will be February 3rd.
According to the SSA’s official spokesperson, “these adjustments to the payment schedule are made to ensure that beneficiaries receive their payments on time, even if the regular payment day falls on a non-business day.”
We should also mention that the maximum payment that an individual beneficiary can receive is $967 for the entire year 2025. The maximum amount available to couples receiving the allowance is $1,450. Finally, the maximum monthly payment for an essential support person is $484.
