Investigation leads to resolution of the issue between the apartments and the post office

OMAHA, Nebraska – Their mailboxes sat empty for three months because tenants in one Camelot Village apartment building had to drive seven miles round trip to receive mail.

“That’s a pain in the butt when you have to rely on someone else to tale you once a week to go get your mail,” Bonnie Howell, who is the tenant, said.

The mail carrier access device to the locked building has been in need of repair since October. Management and the Postal Service blamed each other for the misunderstanding.

“This letter, however, came from the post office,” a tenant explained.

It warned residents that if postal carrier access was not restored, all of their mail would be returned to the sender; however, tenants checked their mail boxes just one day after the First Alert 6 investigation.

“Look at that. It’s junk mail, but it’s mail nonetheless. I’m overjoyed, Mike; one day you delivered our mail, thank you.” Tenant Don Stevens stated.

While a replacement entrance box is on its way, tenants claim apartment management gave the mail carrier a key to the door.

“We are very grateful that you stepped in and took care of this because we can now get our mail,” tenant Laura Peterson stated. “Yes, very happy.”

Joe Gomez wants his mail delivered close to his home.

“Wrong key, it just tells you how long it’s been since been down here to get mail,” Gomez quipped.

The investigation conducted by First Alert 6 resulted in results that were delivered overnight.

The tenants told First Alert 6 that since October, they have taken off work or carpooled to the northwest post office only a few days a week.

They can now walk a few steps every day to get their mail, and important documents like medical cards and tax statements are delivered right on time.
