ASHBURN, Va – According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, a 19-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy on Saturday.

Deputies say Fadlalla Mohamed, 19, of Ashburn, is charged with first-degree murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.

On Saturday evening, deputies were dispatched to the 43000 block of Hillmont Terrace in response to a stabbing report; however, officials discovered a teen in the front passenger seat of a vehicle outside the Harris Teeter in Southern Walk Plaza.

Officials reported that the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies determined that the teen was shot in a different location and that someone transported him to Southern Walk Plaza — but that person is not a suspect.

The sheriff’s office identified Mohamed as the shooter and arrested him in Leesburg. He is being held in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

“This was a brutal crime and a tragedy for this young man’s family,” Sheriff Mike Chapman stated. “I am proud of the many deputies, detectives, analysts, and others who worked around the clock to identify, track down, and arrest the suspect.”

The arrest of a suspect in less than 24 hours demonstrates their diligence and skills, as well as the use of cutting-edge technology to identify and locate Mohamed,” he added.

This is an ongoing investigation. The department urges anyone with information to call Detective Whitehead at 703-777-1021. Anonymous tips can be sent to Loudoun County Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919 or via the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app.
