A 16-year-old girl from Omaha, Nebraska, died in a car accident near her high school. According to WOWT, the fatal vehicle collision occurred on Monday, April 21, shortly before 7:30 p.m.
Elise Cole was driving a 2017 Subaru Outback near Millard West High School when a 2006 Ford F350 pickup truck collided with her. Police and first responders arrived on the scene at 176th Avenue and Queen Street and transported both drivers to the hospital.
Car Crash Kills 16-Year-Old Girl Outside Of High School
Cole, a 16-year-old girl, was identified at the hospital and pronounced dead after succumbing to her injuries. She was a sophomore at Millard West High School, the public school confirmed.
Christopher Luke, the Ford driver, was 32 years old. Fortunately, they were able to treat his injuries at the hospital, and doctors expect him to survive. Police are still investigating how the crash occurred.
Since the announcement of Cole’s death, classmates and friends have organized a memorial for her. The memorial display included flowers, which was a touching way to remember Cole.
Miley Blue, a sophomore at Millard West, recalled Cole as an amazing friend. “She was the best friend I could ask for,” Blue told me. “She was so funny, she was the ideal person. She possesses a beautiful soul. She just brightened up the room every time she entered.”
Blue could not recall a single person who disliked Cole. “Nobody ever disliked Ellie. “She was just a happy, happy person,” Blue explained.
Aside from her best friend, Millard West’s principal, Dr. Greg Tiemann, issued a statement regarding Cole’s tragic death. “Ellie was a kind, joyful person who gave so much of herself to others,” says Tiemann. “As a member of the Principal’s Council and Show Choir, she was always eager to share her voice and make a difference.”
Everyone who described Cole praised her kindness and generosity. “Ellie greeted everyone with a smile and had a special way of making people feel seen—whether it was saying hello in the hallway or helping new students feel at home at Millard West,” the principal said.
