A family member allegedly smelled “rotting flesh emanating from the residence” before making a horrifying discovery inside; when police asked the suspect why he was covered in blood, he claimed an alien had “harvested his organs” a few days prior.
A Texas man is being held on a $2 million bond for the heinous murder of his father, whom he apparently believed was an alien.
Jaime Adrian Contreras, 39, was arrested on Saturday, April 12, and charged with murder in the death of his father, Victor Gerardo Contreras, 74, according to the El Paso Police Department. Jaime appears to have had mental health issues prior to the incident.
On Saturday, authorities responded to Victor’s home after a family member who had not heard from him in about a week went there and discovered his body. According to court documents reviewed by local FOX affiliate KFOX14, he entered after noticing a smell of “rotting flesh emanating from the residence” through the victim’s open bedroom window.
When he entered the house, he discovered the victim in his bedroom, covered in a sheet. He reportedly noticed head trauma, and the sheet was splattered with blood. The family member then began texting Jaime, who also lived in the house, and told police that he could tell Contreras saw the messages but did not respond.
While carrying out a search warrant on the house, investigators discovered suspected blood throughout. According to the documents, the victim was “disemboweled,” had a slit throat, stab wounds around his neck, and sustained a head injury.
After a neighbor reported seeing Jaime driving his father’s Jeep, the vehicle and suspect were found nearby. When asked by police where his father was, Jaime allegedly said, “In heaven.” According to the documents, he also had a “deep” cut on his finger and a swollen hand, and allegedly told authorities that he sustained his injuries while “battling.”
He then claimed to have been “fighting” after an alien harvested his organs a few days earlier.
According to police, the El Paso Police Crisis Intervention Team, which deals with mental health issues, visited the home in May 2023 to discuss an Emergency Detention Order and stated that Jaime believed his father was an alien at the time.
In July of the same year, CIT officers were called back to the house and informed that Jaime did not recognize Victor as his father and mistook him for an alien.
The wife of the man who discovered the victim also told police she last spoke with Victor on April 5; during a phone call, the victim allegedly told her Jaime was “acting crazy again.” She allegedly claimed Jaime took the phone from his father and expressed his displeasure, claiming Victor wanted to sell it. After calling police, he told her, “Everything was fine,” in a later call.
According to police, Victor called them twice that day, claiming Jaime was threatening him, hitting him, and wielding a hammer, saying “give me my power.” Officers reportedly responded, returned the hammer to the victim, and the case was closed as a mental health call because Victor allegedly never claimed he was hit with the tool.
Jaime is being held under a $2 million bond.
