‘Earth Lost a Lot of Light’—Heartbroken Boyfriends Pay Tribute to Mass. Teens Killed in Spring Break Tragedy

The boyfriends of two Massachusetts teens killed in a horrifying spring break car accident posted heartfelt tributes to their high school sweethearts following the crash, which killed three people.

“There are so many things I love about you, and so many things I am going to miss,” Warren Hansel, Hannah Wasserman’s boyfriend, wrote on Instagram Tuesday.

“You made everyone around you happy and energetic; I have never met anyone who could light up a room the way you could. “You are not only the love of my life; you are also my best friend,” he added. “I still love you and will love you forever. Rest easy, Hannah; I hope heaven treats you well.

The photos accompanying the post showed the lovebirds heading to prom together, preparing for a day of skiing, and spending a summer afternoon on the banks of Walden Pond, just up the road from their school.

Wasserman was one of four Concord-Carlisle High School friends driving on the highway near Panama City, Fla., Monday night when they collided with a tractor-trailer making a U-turn, sending their SUV tumbling across the median and into the woods across the road.

Jimmy McIntosh, 18, was driving the SUV and was killed along with Maisey O’Donnell. A fourth friend has survived but is in critical condition.

Ryan Valentine, O’Donnell’s boyfriend, also posted on social media to remember her.

“I love you more than anything, and there are no words to describe the impact you had on my life. Valentine wrote: “Your smile lit up every room, and your kindness touched many.” “I will always remember the little moments we had, whether it was going on a late night food run or playing driveway basketball.”

“Your happiness was always contagious, and you could not help but spread joy wherever you went. Earth lost a lot of light today, but I am confident that the stars will shine brighter with you,” he added.

Valentine included photos of the couple getting ready for prom and driving around Martha’s Vineyard together.

O’Donnell, a two-time Massachusetts state diving champion, had committed to competing at Williams College in the fall.

Her coach, Joe Chirico, described her as one of the nation’s best divers and a role model.

“The little kids and the other divers looked up to her,” Chirico told WCVB. “It is a tragedy, that somebody at the top of their game, going to the best academic school, one of the best divers in the nation, was cut so short.”

According to social media posts, Wasserman and her boyfriend planned to attend Syracuse University together in the fall.

Both the 19-year-old driver of the tractor trailer involved in the accident and a passenger were unharmed, and the Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.

Concord-Carlisle High School, located approximately 25 miles outside of Boston, confirmed the tragic deaths.

“We are very appreciative of the outpouring of love during what is absolutely heartbreaking,” school district Superintendent Laurie Hunter said in a statement.

The name of the 18-year-old student in critical condition has not been released.
