OMAHA – According to the mayor, plans for a long-delayed development in Omaha are moving forward.
The City of Omaha and its development partners, the Woodbury Corporation and WRK Real Estate, have revealed the “anchor tenant” for The Crossroads: Gamescape by Cinemark.
Gamescape is a movie theater chain-designed entertainment facility that features bowling, an arcade, laser tag, a full-service restaurant, and, of course, big screens.
The second Cinemark Gamescape ever built will be in Omaha; the other is in El Paso, Texas.
“Gamescape by Cinemark brings a new family entertainment destination to Omaha and will be part of the revival of this true crossroads of our city,” Mayor Jean Stothert stated in a press release on Tuesday. “Woodbury and WRK Real Estate are excellent partners who will create a spectacular development. We can all be confident in the construction schedule and Woodbury’s track record of successful development across the country.”
Demolition for The Crossroads began in 2020, and the site has since become a hot topic of conversation among city officials, particularly the mayor, due to numerous delays and changes in plans, with little visible progress to show.
Phase 1 of the project began in December, with Woodbury Corporation taking over as primary developer.
