More than 150 dogs were discovered crammed into an elderly hoarder’s tiny, trashed Utah home last month, according to shocking newly released police bodycam footage.
Homeowner Miguel Salgado-Vargas, 73, was not present during the sweep last month, but Ogden Police bodycam footage obtained by KUTV shows packs of dogs — along with a few cats — swarming every inch of the disgusting abode.
Officers were greeted with a cacophony of barks and howls before they could open the door.
Inside, they discovered a house of horrors: dozens of terrified small dogs in cardboard boxes, swarming like rats among piles of trash and hopping on and off rotting mattresses.
The dust and stench burned the officers’ noses and eyes, and they had to put on gas masks before venturing deeper into the filth.
The Ogden Police Department removed 156 animals from the furry flophouse and transported them to a nearby animal shelter.
KUTV reported that Salgado-Vargas is facing 637 misdemeanor charges, including animal cruelty, unlicensed animals, and kennel violations.
The majority of the animals have been adopted, and the community has generously donated to the Weber County Animal Shelter, according to the outlet.
