Chattanooga – A 55-year-old man died Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Chattanooga, according to police.
According to the Chattanooga Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Oakhill Road and Sterchi Drive at 7:17 a.m. on May 9, 2025, after receiving reports of a bicyclist and vehicle collision.
When officers arrived, they discovered a male bicyclist suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Responding officers performed CPR on the scene until Hamilton County EMS arrived to take over emergency medical care.
The man was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
According to the CPD Traffic Unit is preliminary investigation, the crash occurred when a Nissan traveling southbound on Oakhill Road approached the intersection at Sterchi Drive.
At the same time, a bicyclist was riding east on Sterchi Drive and crossed the path of the vehicle. The Nissan then collided with the cyclist, resulting in fatal injuries.
The driver of the Nissan and a passenger were also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of what authorities described as minor injuries.
Police emphasized that the information released so far is preliminary, and that the investigation is still ongoing. They are asking anyone with more information about the crash to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.
