HAMILTON COUNTY, – According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, two men have been arrested after an 18-year-old was “brutally murdered” on Sunday.
Cameron Fine of Lake City and Josh Daniel of White Springs, both 18, were arrested in connection with the crime the same day, within 12 hours of William Powell Jr.’s death, Chief Investigator Sgt. Jay Golub told WCTV Monday afternoon.
The circumstances surrounding Powell Jr.’s death and his relationship to the suspects are unknown at this time. Officials are expected to hold a news conference Tuesday morning to provide additional details.
Fine is charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Daniel is facing charges of accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.
At this time, the sheriff’s office was unable to reveal where they discovered the victim’s body.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Third Judicial Circuit of Florida State Attorney’s Office are assisting HCSO with the investigation.
