OMAHA – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested the owners of a local dispensary following two drug-related disturbances.
Ryan McCollum, 36, was arrested on Monday for possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and Ross Plum, 34, was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail, according to a release.
The arrests follow an investigation into the incidents, which revealed a link to Greenstar Glass and Goodies in northwest Omaha.
According to the update, deputies executed a search warrant at the store on April 30 and seized 487 mushroom products from 23 different varieties.
“The whole industry is a sham, they are drug dealers, and they want to sell these drugs to our community and our kids,” the sheriff, Aaron Hanson, said.
Ten of the 23 products were tested, with three containing psilocin, a Schedule I controlled substance. According to the DCSO, possession and distribution of psilocin is a felony. Other items were discovered to contain controlled substances and were incorrectly labeled.
“They also tested positive for as multitude of other unknown compounds that are not illegal, but are hallucinogenic,” according to Sheriff Hanson.
According to the release, DCSO deputies received reports of two adult males causing separate disturbances, both involving nudity, on April 19 and 20.
In both cases, the men were transported to the hospital for treatment.
“When deputies arrived, they made contact with a male walking around the neighborhood, fully nude, acting erratically, and yelling that he wants to ‘kill people’,” stated Sheriff Hanson.
One of the men reached for a gun while being detained.
“That nude male was incoherent and rambling, and during the interaction, the known made an intentional reach for the deputy’s firearm, and was detained and ultimately placed into emergency protective custody in a hospital,” according to Sheriff Hanson.
One of the men claimed he consumed a mushroom product purchased from Greenstar Glass and Goodies. The other man stated that he had taken hits from a THC vape and possibly consumed THC gummies purchased from a nearby dispensary.
“Please do not consume products if you are not 100% certain of what they contain… medicinal products should be prescribed and obtained only through a licensed pharmacist.”
DCSO also claims that the store sells items geared toward teenagers, such as skateboards, clothing, and decals.
