Fire in abandoned North Omaha residence is under investigation

OMAHA –The Omaha Fire Department responded to a fire in an abandoned residence early Monday.

The fire erupted soon before 2 a.m. Monday in a residence near 28th and Taylor streets in North Omaha.

When firemen got at the scene, they discovered smoke and flames emanating from the property. They fought the fire for around 20 minutes until it was extinguished, according to the announcement.

According to the announcement, the home’s structure has been completely destroyed. Crews discovered indications of squatters within the house.

Officials said there are no injuries to report in the incident, which is being investigated.
