New Jersey – A New Jersey woman and her husband, 38-year-old B. Spenser and 41-year-old B. MosIey, were arrested and charged with a number of offenses, including kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. The male defendant is also facing additional charges of aggravated sexual assault and endangering a child’s welfare through sexual contact.
The arrests came after the woman’s 18-year-old daughter fled the couple’s home last week. The victim stated that she had been subjected to severe abuse and confinement since 2018, beginning with her parent withdrawing her from school in sixth grade.
The victim was initially confined to a dog crate for about a year before being chained in a padlocked bathroom and, at times, kept in a bare room with only a bucket for a toilet. An alarm system was installed to warn the couple if she attempted to flee.
The victim also reported experiencing physical and sexual abuse from her parent’s partner (SEE PHOTO), including being beaten with a belt and coerced into sexual acts in exchange for food while confined. She was able to flee with the help of a neighbor, who contacted New Jersey authorities.
Police investigated and discovered squalid living conditions in the home, which housed multiple animals and another child, 13, who had also been removed from school years before.
Both defendants are currently being held at the correctional facility awaiting detention hearings.
New Jersey authorities have emphasized the gravity of the situation, describing it as one of the most disturbing cases of child abuse they have seen. The investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as new information becomes available.
