Adventuresome diners who want to try international variations, such as the Terriyaki Chicken Filet-O or the Big Spicy Paneer Wrap, can do so without having to fly.
Serious McDonald’s fans are already aware that the company’s headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois.
However, tucked beneath the command center is a chain restaurant that serves global McDonald’s favorites.
McDonald’s Global Menu Restaurant has been selling its iconic global items since 2018.
Not only does it serve these unique dishes, but it also serves unconventional McFlurry flavors and the standard American menu for those craving a taste of home.
If you want to see this one-of-a-kind attraction, go to Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.
However, make sure you choose the right time, as the menu is constantly changing every 12 weeks.
That means that every few months, the chain will only offer a few global options for diners to select from.
To see what is on offer, customers can use delivery platforms such as Uber Eats or the McDonald’s app to scan the menu.
The location for the stashes will be either 1035 Randolph Street or 1045 Randolph Street in Chicago.
According to reports, items tend to sell out quickly, so customers should arrive early if they want to experience life abroad.
Aside from Japan’s Terriyaki Chicken Filet-O and India’s Big Spicy Paneer Wrap, the special site offers other continental favorites.
This includes, but is not limited to, Malaysian Crisscut Chips, Hong Kong’s McSpicy Fried Chicken Sandwich, and the UK’s Philly Cheese Stack.
The restaurant’s design has a modern appearance with a contemporary flair.
Its architecture incorporates a lot of natural wood, and the floors are even decked with brown leather chairs.
One wall features a world map outlined in thin, white lines and dotted with illuminated golden arches.
Each logo marking represents a country with an item on the location’s menu.
The headquarters is also located next to a pristine fast-food facility outfitted with cutting-edge kitchens for recipe testing, aptly named Hamburger University.
The global menu restaurant is slightly larger than most McDonald’s locations, covering more than 6,000 square feet.
The average size of the brand’s restaurants is approximately 4,500 square feet.
The incredible branch has three ways to order: at the counter, from a digital kiosk, or using the QR codes on top of each table.
Food is usually ready within two minutes of ordering, similar to the other branches.
McDonald’s confirmed that the unique location is the “only place in the U.S. where customers can try select global menu items through a rotating menu”.
However, the fast-food icon has previously made popular international menu items available throughout the country.
In 2019, the Stroopwafel McFlurry from the Netherlands, the Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger from Spain, the Tomato Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich from Canada, and the Cheesy Bacon Fries from Australia were available in the United States for a limited time.
