In relation to the May 2024 murder, three people are arrested by Omaha Police

OMAHA – Police have arrested three people in a nearly year-old homicide investigation in Omaha.

Hsa Htoo, 39, Yu Htoo, 46, and Win Oo-Thein, 38, were all taken into custody and booked into Douglas County Corrections, according to an OPD update released Tuesday. Each is charged with first-degree murder and criminal conspiracy.

The charges stem from a shooting last spring that killed 35-year-old Kyaw Thu.

On May 18, 2024, around 2 a.m., officers responded to the area of 45th and Charles Street. They arrived to find Thu with a gunshot wound to the armpit. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

According to court documents, the criminal conspiracy charge against each man stems from allegations that the murder was committed for monetary gain.

The investigation is ongoing.
