The woman who went viral on social media for her controversial Kentucky Derby dress was identified Sunday morning.
The 151st Kentucky Derby took place Saturday evening at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Sovereignty won, defeating the overwhelming favorite in Journalism. It was a muddy day on the track because it rained heavily in Kentucky before the race began.
Meanwhile, a woman received backlash on social media for wearing a “classless” and “inappropriate” dress to the event.
“Classless,” a fan wrote on social media.
“Not appropriate for the Kentucky Derby,” another fan commented.
“Not what you should wear,” one fan added.
The woman went viral on social media, and she has now been identified.
The dress was worn by influencer Gabriela Moura. She is the girlfriend of Josh Richards, a well-known influencer who co-hosts the podcast “BFFs” with Briana Chickenfry.
Moura attended the Kentucky Derby with fellow influencer Alix Earle.
Moura has nearly three million social media followers.
She attended the Kentucky Derby on both Friday and Saturday.
While some criticized her dress, others praised her on social media.
After all, the Kentucky Derby motto is “dress to impress”.
“The Kentucky Derby is unlike any other event, beginning with The Most Exciting Two Minutes in SportsĀ® and ending with unrivaled style. Louisville may not be known as a fashion capital, but it has a distinct style all its own. From Derby hats to bourbon-inspired clothing lines, fashion in Louisville combines Southern charm and urban edge,” according to the Derby.
“In the lead-up to the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, guests dress in their Derby best. Derby week is an opportunity for both men and women to go all out. For some, this means bold, bright, floral looks, while for others, it means a chance to show off their refined elegance.
There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to Derby attire, in part because what you wear depends on where you intend to spend the day. But the same rule applies to everyone in attendance: dress to impress.
