Dan Johnson, an Ashland neighbor, has been playing golf for several years. Quarry Oaks Golf Club is among his favorite courses.
“It is a beautiful setting. “This place is unique,” Johnson said.
It is regarded as one of the best public courses in the region, situated along the Platte River.
“It was a great course before, but it is just that much better now,” according to him.
General Manager Joe Sutter stated that every tee box, fairway, bunker, and green has been updated, as well as a new irrigation system installed.
“There are many golf courses in the state. “But this is a little different than the others,” Sutter explained.
The clubhouse has been upgraded with a bar and lounge area, pro shop, meeting rooms, and patio furniture.
Sutter believes now is an excellent time to open, as Ashland is experiencing a surge in new restaurants and businesses.
In fact, he claims that 80% of tee times are sold out until the end of the year.
“It does not feel like Nebraska because there is not a flat piece of ground here. We have such rolling terrain. We have such stunning views. It is an unusual piece of property for Nebraska. That is why people love it so much,” he said.
Johnson said he will be here a lot more as the weather warms up.
“Ashland is blessed with four great courses, but this is the creme da la creme of all of those four,” he told me.
