Sweet Deal. Trader Joe's Will Sell Viral Candy For Only $3.99, Which Is A Fraction Of The Price Of Walmart And Target's Equivalent

The chain will start selling the iconic Dubai Chocolate Bars for $3.99 in a few days, a significant discount from Walmart and Target.

The chocolatey, pistachio-flavored Middle Eastern dessert gained popularity in the United States in 2023, thanks to a viral TikTok video.

The craze for the trendy treat has not died down, and Trader Joe’s is the latest retailer to join in.

An employee confirmed the launch in a recent TikTok post, stating that the pistachio-infused chocolate bars would be available on the company’s shelves in the coming days.

Although the video has since been deleted, a Reddit user captured a screenshot of it and shared it in a post on the Trader Joe’s subreddit this week.

“Saw this on my TikTok posted by an employee!” the user wrote. “They said it should be in stores starting 5/28.”

The screenshot revealed that Trader Joe’s would be introducing bars filled with pistachio cream and shredded pastry known as kataifi, but in dark chocolate rather than milk chocolate.

Patislove, a brand that specializes in handcrafted chocolates, created the 3.52 ounce Dubai-style bars, which will cost Trader Joe’s customers $3.99.

Fans were quick to express their excitement about the treat’s arrival in the comments section.

“Oh, good! “I have been wanting to try this!!!” exclaimed one foodie.

“Omg! “I have never tried this chocolate before, so I am really excited,” said another.

Thank you, TJ! I bought my daughter a $30 Dubai chocolate bar for her birthday. A third customer commented, “This is much better!”

BARGAIN BUY

The launch of Trader Joe’s Dubai Chocolate Bars is highly anticipated, not only for the treat itself, but also for the price.

The Trader Joe’s version, priced at $3.99 per bar, is an absolute steal.

Many other retail behemoths have joined in on the viral craze, but they charge a premium for the Middle Eastern treat.

Dubai Chocolate Bar Craze

The iconic Dubai Chocolate Bar has taken the internet by storm.

It went viral in December 2023 thanks to TikToker Maria Vehera’s video showing her indulging in the Middle Eastern treat, which has since garnered over 6.9 million likes.

The original Dubai Chocolate Bar, called Can’t Get Knafeh of It, was created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai.

Vehera’s post sparked a craze among sweet tooths, who were quickly disappointed to realize that the decadent treat was expensive and hard to find.

Many social media users have whipped up copycat versions and homemade Dubai chocolate bars to get a taste of the treat.

Starbucks even launched a Dubai Chocolate Bar Matcha Latte inspired by the dessert, which has high demand and limited availability in the states.

Several retailers have begun selling versions of the chocolate bar as well to capitalize on the trend.

For example, a seven-ounce Dubai Chocolate Bar at Target costs a whopping $29.99.

Another option at Target, normally priced at $24.99, is currently on sale for $17.99 – and it only weighs 3.53 ounces.

The iconic chocolate bars are similarly priced high at Walmart, where a seven-ounce bar costs $24, down from the original $28.99.

Walmart customers can also get another Dubai Chocolate Bar listing for $16.90, which is more than four times the price of the Trader Joe’s version.

The iconic chocolate bar is notoriously expensive, so Trader Joe’s has one of, if not the, most affordable Dubai Chocolate Bar options.

Costco had previously capitalized on the Dubai Chocolate Bar trend, offering boxes of 41 bite-sized Bouchard Dubai Chocolates for $17.99.

The warehouse club also offered an ice cream version of the famous treat for $17.99.
