This spring, Omaha homeowners can take advantage of free yard waste pickup

OMAHA – This spring, the City of Omaha will again offer free yard waste pickup to households.

The service begins Monday and will continue until June 13. FCC Environmental Services, the city’s waste provider, advises customers to place excess yard debris in paper bags outside their garbage carts for collection.

If you decide to put yard waste in your cart, officials recommend putting a bag of garbage in first since debris can get caught at the bottom.

According to the contractor’s website, purchased tags are necessary for bundles of brush but not for yard garbage bags.

According to officials, the yard trash will be transferred to the Oma-Gro plant and composted there. Residents can bring their yard garbage to the facility for free from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays at 6606 S 60th Street.
