OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested six persons in a stolen guns case on Thursday, with a seventh apprehended out of state.
According to a DCSO statement issued Friday, the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol received a report of a burglary Thursday night. Three weapons and one pellet gun were reported stolen.
That same night, DCSO and Sarpy County deputies, along with Omaha Police officers, carried out a search warrant at a Motel 6 along Interstate 80 at 84th Street.
The guns, pellet gun, and other stolen things and controlled drugs were discovered in a room as a consequence of the firearms theft warrant, according to a statement released by DCSO on Friday.Investigators swiftly set out to find them.
“Within hours they were able to identify them, they had weapons, they had the victim of the burglary so it all occurred pretty quick.” DCSO Captain Eric Sellers explained.
Sellers stated that they may be involved in additional crimes in the city.
“They prey on people and steal whatever they can from them. Whether it’s a room, a house, a garage, or a car, I believe they’re involved in a lot of parcel theft across the city. Sellers described them as “parasites” who move from one person to the next, stealing anything of worth.
Sellers informed First Alert 6 that if they are released, the DCSO will keep a watch on them.
“It’s usually like that we will cycle through a group that we will arrest,” Sellers explained to reporters. “Even if it is construction theft, we will arrest the same bunch, and we may be slow for a while until they are released.
A very small percentage of the people in town are responsible for the vast majority of the crimes. “If we can take six people off the street, it will have an impact.”
According to the statement, the warrant resulted in six arrests without incident. A seventh individual was apprehended in another state.
Jacqueline Clary, 25, was detained on five misdemeanor arrest warrants and one criminal impersonation allegation.Ronald Davis, 56, Ronald Davis Jr., 34, and Kayla Tatum, 30, were arrested for possession of stolen guns.
Madison Hicks, 20, was arrested on counts of possession of stolen firearms, felon in possession of firearms, and two misdemeanor arrest warrants.
Megan Sunderman, 39, is wanted on felony and misdemeanor charges, as well as being a fugitive from justice. She was arrested in another state.
Bret Thomas Jr., 35, faces two felony arrest warrants, one misdemeanor arrest warrant, and a trespass charge.
