OMAHA, Nebraska (WOWT) – A man who was already facing charges for making terroristic threats against his two children and his pregnant ex-girlfriend has been charged with another alleged terroristic threat against her.

The most recent charge was filed Friday against Alec Cowan, 27, for an incident that happened on November 26.

According to court filings, he allegedly threatened her over the phone, stating he would cut her throat if she didn’t give him any money. She phoned police and told them he was inside a Super 8 motel where she was staying, and that he was known to carry blades and take drugs.

He was evidently already wanted on a felony warrant at the time, and the serial of Omaha-metro parcel thefts for which he is also charged had not yet occurred when she filed this report.

Cowan was granted a $40,000 bond on the new accusation Friday.

Cowan was arrested two days ago and charged with 11 charges of burglary, as well as a felony domestic violence warrant. He waived his preliminary hearing in both instances, so they will go to trial.

According to the Omaha Police Department, the package thefts he is accused of began on November 2, with reports filed in five different apartment complexes.

His earlier terroristic threats accusations were also believed to stem from phone calls begging for money. In the previous case, the pregnant woman told police that Cowan threatened to blow up her house and murder her and her unborn child. She claimed he had also waited outside her house, and when she was leaving, he attempted to crash into her car while driving a vehicle he did not own.

She claimed he also threatened two of his own children.

According to records, Cowan was also arrested in 2022 for assaulting a police officer, possessing more than one pound of marijuana, and other charges. Cowan was sentenced to six months in jail for the event.
