Short History
There are many Native American tribes with a long history of living in the Missouri Valley region. Lewis and Clark passed through the are that would become Omaha in 1804. The City of Omaha was founded in 1854. Omaha became an important stop on the east-west route for early American trades, especially considering the First Continental Railroad started in Council Bluffs.
While the metro’s early success came from the transport and meat processing trades, over time it has become a business friendly city. [Wikipedia]
